Chief Functionary's Message
Dear Esteemed Board Members, It is with profound gratitude and a sense of responsibility that I address you today, reflecting on the journey of MARPU over the past three years. These years have been marked by both challenges and triumphs, as we remained steadfast in our commitment to serving the marginalized and underprivileged communities. As we navigate through this annual report, I invite you to join us in celebrating our achievements and reaAirming our dedication to creating positive change.
Organizational Overview
MARPU, founded in 1995 by Mr. Yalakapalli Yerrappa, has been a beacon of hope for marginalized communities, particularly focusing on the Dalit population. Since its inception, MARPU has expanded its reach to encompass multiple districts in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, striving to address the multifaceted needs of the most vulnerable segments of society.
Transition of Leadership
In 2021, we witnessed a significant transition in leadership as Mr. Yalakapalli Yerrappa, our esteemed founder and Chief Functionary, resigned from his position. With deep gratitude for his tireless eAorts, we welcomed Undurthi John Kumar as the new Chief Functionary, who brings with him a renewed vision and commitment to MARPU's mission.
Projects and Activities
Over the span of three financial years, MARPU has implemented a diverse array of projects aimed at empowering communities and fostering sustainable development. Let us delve into the details of some key initiatives:
Achievements
Despite the challenges posed by various socio-economic factors,
MARPU has achieved significant milestones in advancing its
objectives:
Education: MARPU enabled the education of 400 rural poor
pupils and provided non-formal education to 500 child laborers,
ensuring access to quality education for vulnerable children.
Empowerment: Through skill training initiatives,
MARPU
empowered 650 women and 775 youth, equipping them with the necessary
tools for economic independence and self-reliance.
Infrastructure: MARPU installed 10 drinking water borewells
in rural villages, addressing the critical need for clean water
access and improving public health outcomes.
Awareness:
Conducted extensive awareness campaigns on child labor elimination,
health, and human rights, reaching 56 villages and hamlets and
fostering community engagement and empowerment.
Targeted Area Background
East Godavari, our primary target area, presents unique challenges and opportunities. With a focus on addressing the needs of migrant families and vulnerable groups, MARPU remains committed to implementing tailored interventions that promote social inclusion, education, and economic empowerment.
